Joaquin Garcia-Alfaro is full professor at the Networks and Telecommunication Services department, Télécom SudParis Campus, Institut Mines-Telecom. He holds an Engineering degree in Computer Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona; a double Ph.D. diploma from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Rennes; and a research habilitation from Pierre and Marie Curie University. He was awarded by La Caixa savings bank foundation and has been visiting postdoctoral fellow at Carleton University, Canada.
His research interests include IT and network security problems, with an emphasis on the management of network vulnerabilities and enforcement of countermeasures. He is reviewer for magazines and symposiums, has co-authored numerous papers in journals and conferences, and has guided several Ph.D. students in related topics.
